We’re here!!!
We are in Guangzhou. It’s around 7:30am, July 17th. We’ve been up about an hour now and just enjoying getting ready at a leisurely pace. We leave for the airport at 10:30am to head for Nanjing and closer to LADYBUG!!
The trip here was pretty much uneventful. Flights were smooth and flight attendants and ground staff very helpful. Our gates were close except in Seattle, but K and I had already done the transfer to the South Satellite terminal a few times and knew already what to do there.
We met two other families adopting 2yo children on the flight from Toyko. They are easy to spot–glowing and smiling just like us. ROTF!!
In Japan, we discovered interesting toilets at the airport. You can press a button if you want to be sprayed, if you want music, or if you just want a flushing sound but no flush. I got pictures that I promise to post.
This info is for those waiting to travel: Victory Hotel is very nice. We are in the main building. The room is large by American standards with an alcove sitting room which will make a great playroom for Ladybug when we return. I will get pictures uploaded when I can of this as well.
The beds aren’t soft, but not so hard you can’t sleep. They are a bit smaller than an American double. Those who have traveling with a larger group than us will definitely want to request extra cots. We slept well last night. We did not encounter the noise that I’ve read about when staying the main building. Check in was a breeze.
We connected with our guide easily at the airport. She speaks English *very* well and is easy to communicate with. We will have a different guide this morning as she will be doing a city tour with four other families from WACAP today.
Ok, I’ve been told there are tummies that want breakfast–I’ll try to get pictures loaded in Nanjing later today!!

I’m so glad you are there safely. I didn’t realize you were landing first in Guangzhou. Is it warm there? I loved the tropical welcome when we arrived in the midst of January!
Enjoy your LAST day without kids. You know life will never be the same. Safe travels to Nanjing!
Love,
Shawna
